The Many Colors of Black Dance
"It's a rich culture," Cleo Parker Robinson, who founded the black Cleo Parker Robinson Dance in Denver, said
in a 1997 interview. "It's like being bilingual. Dance has been our language. In the dance we learned about who we were as
black people and taught others about our culture in a powerful and positive way."
"A lot of Alvin's, Talley's and Donald McKayle's dances are really important to understand and look at as a body
of work.
